Dr. Kimberly Cotter-Lemus is a multidisciplinary artist and arts educator based in Rhode Island. She tells artistically rendered stories through puppetry, music, visual imagery, and text. Drawing inspiration from her background in world music and cultural studies, she strives for authenticity by extensively researching the various traditions and aesthetics for her performance pieces. Kimberly has trained with several master puppeteers in puppet building and performance including David Lane (New England Puppet Intensive), Eric Bass and Ines Zeller (Sandglass Theatre), Tom Lee (Movement Theatre Studio and Chicago Puppet Fest), Myra Su (Chicago Puppet Fest), and Bernd Ogrodnik (Worlds of Puppets). Kimberly’s work combines original table-top puppets, shadow puppets, and crankies with many of her own musical compositions and accompaniments.
